An example of the dangers of assumption in
historical research - I thought I was very clever working out
Florence Sanger, the Capitol/Columbia/Supertone artist, had reversed
her surname to create F. Regnas while arranging for Kimball.
It was years before I thought to check this
assumption, with the result that Frank W. Regnas now receives his
due credit as Kimball arranger - in fact, manager of Kimball's roll
department!
Standing just a shade under 6 feet tall, with
blue eyes and greying blonde hair (by 1917), he was married to Carol
and father to two sons in the 1910 Census, and lists his profession
as 'Real Estate Agent'. His father was born in Canada and mother in
Pennsylvania.
The 1920 census lists him as the 'Foreman' at
Kimball. Oddly, the 1930 Census lists Carol as the widowed head of
the household, yet a death record for a Frank Regnas, who died on 4
December 1943 in Chicago exists.
